While I was at a customer conducting a Windows 7 Assessment, I installed the latest version of the Application Compatibility Toolkit (ACT 5.5). This isn’t beta, this is a production version of the toolkit. What I noticed was the left pain in the Application Compatibility Manager showed “Windows 7 RC”, I thought that was weird. So, I pinged my friendly co worker TD Williams. He directed me to Chris Jackson’s Blog which describes how to resolve this and this is a “Feature” the developers forgot to remove when deployed the ACT 5.5 Toolkit to production.
The basic gist of how to resolve this issue is:
- Open your SQL Server Management Studio
- Click on the database
- Click New Query
- Copy and past the following query into the query page
- Click execute.
SET osName=’Windows 7′
WHERE osName=’Windows 7 RC’
SET osName=’Windows Server 2008 R2′
WHERE osName=’Windows Server 2008 R2 RC’
