A Catapult Systems client is responsible for the management of over 100 servers, 1000 workstations, and 1500+ user accounts. They previously leveraged Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager 2007, Windows Software Update Services 3.0, and Symantec Endpoint Protection to maintain corporate compliance and control of their information systems. But despite having a fully implemented SCCM 2007 environment, the client was only using minimal capabilities of the product and had no enterprise management solution for application deployment in place.

How Catapult Helped

The client engaged Catapult Systems to perform an implementation of System Center 2012 Configuration Manager, Operations Manager, and Endpoint Protection, and provide a full knowledge transfer to increase their proficiency with the products and optimize their benefits. With SCCM 2012, the client can now manage their patches and software update compliance, and has increased visibility into their compliance state with SQL Server Reporting Services. With the introduction of SCOM 2012 into their infrastructure, their IT management team is now equipped with near real-time monitoring of system services and hardware status, replete with notifications, alerts, graphical reporting, and advanced message filtering. Finally, with SCEP 2012, the client can now achieve the highest degree of protection against malware and other malicious software while reducing their overhead costs.

This migration to System Center 2012 has enhanced the client’s ability to remotely deploy applications and software, manage their software update compliance, and distribute Windows operating systems within their environment. A new layer of manageability has been added by empowering users to request the software they need. This user-centric client-management model will support the client’s continued undertaking to reduce the cost of supporting and managing change to their Windows Enterprise environment, while increasing the awareness and responsiveness of their IT management team.
