So excited to be upgrading our sites to SharePoint 2013. Also excited to upgrade my desktop to Windows 8.1 and IE 11.

Only to be hit with reality. Anytime I attempt to author or administer any of my SharePoint 2013 sites with IE 11, I get the following error: An error has occurred with the data fetch. Please refresh the page and retry.

First off, I recommend you run IE 11 in compatibility mode. That will fix some of the issues with SharePoint 2013 authoring and aesthetics. To run IE 11 in compatibility mode:

  1. Choose ALT-T
  2. Click Compatibility View Settings
  3. Add the current site to your compatibility view
  4. Choose OK

I will be the first to say that this does not work for me. I hope it works for you. I will be eagerly anticipating SP1 and using Chrome for all of my administrative needs until then.
