One of the most common questions I run across when integrating various dashboard solutions is how to integrate the dashboards into the OpsMgr web console. As an example, I may have created a distributed application for my line of business application. On my NOC view I show the health of the distributed application but when I click on the NOC view item I expect that it would bring up the diagram view for the line of business distributed application. This is easy to do with Savision Live Maps or Visio Integration as long as you know the URL (more on the Visio Integration and URL’s will be explained later in this series). To get the URL for a view in OpsMgr (state, alert, diagram or health explorer):
Open the web console, open the distributed application (or the other entity you are looking to display link to). Right-click on the item and choose open. In my case I want the diagram view.
This opens up a new window specific to the view requested. As an example, the diagram view showed below:
Depending on the version of the browser there may not be a URL shown at the top of the newly opened view. If the URL is available at the top copy it from there. If not, this URL can be retrieved by adding the URL as a favorite (highlighted below), and then right-clicking on the favorites and choosing Properties.
From the Properties tab, copy the URL. Paste the URL into a browser to verify it goes to the same OpsMgr web console view shown earlier.
Which should be directly to the view that you want in OpsMgr as shown below!
Summary: Looking to add the URL for a specific view in OpsMgr? Open the OpsMgr Web Console, find the object that you want and right-click to open a new view. The new view opens in a new page which provides the URL to access the specific view in the OpsMgr console.
