Yesterday at the TechEd 2014 North America Conference kickoff Microsoft made several announcements about some new functionality coming to Office 365.
In this Blog post Microsoft details changes and updates to the Office 365 Trust Center. I highly recommend the Trust Center site to any of my clients, especially to the ones that are concerned about security in Office 365 or just want for information on how Microsoft secures and manages Office 365.
Data Loss Prevention (DLP) is coming to SharePoint Online (SPO) and OneDrive for Business (ODFB). This is great news, Microsoft is expanding the existing DLP functionalities in Exchange Online to SPO and ODFB! Admins will not be able to protect how content is shared inside and outside of the organization. This new functionality is scheduled to be rolled out starting in June.
Mobile Device Management for Office 365 via Intune. This will allow administrators to apply policies to control how uses interact with Office 365 content on mobile devices. This is another great step forward for controlling access to content across the many different devices users use today.
Enhancements to Encrypted storage for SPO and ODFB. Starting in July, individual files in SPO and ODFB will be able to be encrypted and protected with its own unique Key. This greatly improves the security of the data stored on SPO and ODFB.
