As part of further learning how System Center 2012 works with Azure, I spent some time recently working with integrating App Controller with an Azure subscription. With App Controller, there are no downloads required to integrate with Azure (such as the management pack for Operations Manager or the integration pack for Orchestrator). This blog posts goes through how to attach App Controller to an existing Azure subscription. For information on how to use an existing MSDN subscription to access Azure see this blog post.

Attaching App Controller to an Azure subscription:

To attach App Controller to an existing subscription open the App Controller console under settings, subscriptions and add your Azure subscription information. Required fields include the name, subscription ID, management certificate (PFX file) and the password for the management certificate. The figures below show the process to add these:

Once the subscription has been added you can see it below:

After the subscription is successfully added, Windows Azure will display in the Clouds section of the UI.

If Azure has an existing hosted service, they will appear in the Services section of the UI as shown below.
