Another month and another meeting of the Office 365 International User Group in the books! Had another great meeting today. We started off talking about the new Microsoft Unified Technology Event (MUTE), which is replacing the Exchange, SharePoint, Lync and Project Conferences along with TechEd North America and Management Conference. We then shifted gears a bit, I gave a recap of what I learned from the Microsoft World Partner Confernce held in DC last week. My main point were that Cloud is still king and the focus is moving more from Office 365 to Azure and EMS. The reason for the shift is that Office 365 is now a 2.5 Billion dollar business and Microsoft wants to build up Azure to that level as well. We also talked about a few more things about the conference specifically one was about the FastTrack v2 program and the shift from Microsoft to push consumption. I am going to try to get Jeff Medford on the next IUG meeting to talk more about the changes to FastTrack.

Mounil Patel with Mimecast gave a presentation on the new services that Mimecast is offering. One that really caught my eye is a Backup Solution for Exchange Online, basically it uses archiving to create a backup that the admin can restore from.
