Here at Catapult a few of us are working on multiple infrastructure projects for the same client. I’m responsible for migrating from their current antivirus to FEP. The person responsible for migrating from an older version of Exchange to Exchange 2010 asked about FEP exclusions. It appears the Exchange 2010 servers will be up at least built before System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM or ConfigMgr) is operational for FEP to be deployed. Of course Forefront Protection 2010 for Exchange Server (FPE) will also be installed but his concern was exclusions in FEP for Exchange 2010. We all know the exclusions for file based antivirus on Exchange 2010 is a very long and lengthy process ( http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb332342.aspx ). I explained that the FEP client can be installed on Exchange 2010 and exclusions imported before the ConfigMgr/FEP environment is even built. The TechNet article on how do this this can be found at http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg412477.aspx .
What’s a blog without screenshots? Below are the ConfigMgr/FEP settings if you create a policy using the policy template: FEP Exchange 2007-2010 including Defaults.
