I just found this out after I took some time to look into why others were having issues posting multiple categories to their blog posts using Word or Windows Live Writer. It turns out that the CKS EBE doesn’t want authors to actually use the Out of the Box SharePoint blog API and instead implements the Metaweblog API. To add insult to injury, if you do connect via the SharePoint API, your categories might look like they posted, but they likely will be corrupted and won’t work properly.
Now, if you read the CKS EBE users guide then you would see that on page three (its only five pages) it clearly states that to connect using Word or Windows Live Writer you need to do the following:
From ribbon bar click on the list of blogs
Then select Add blog account and select Other Service
Next we will fill in our blog’s URL and our user name and password. Oddly, it appears to require that the domain name be in ALL CAPS as it would not authenticate me when I typed it in lower case.
Now we select the blog type…
Metaweblog API is the one that we want
Next we have to set the Remote Posting Web Address for the blog. The format is //metaweblog.ashx”>//metaweblog.ashx”>http://<server>/<blog>/metaweblog.ashx For my Catapult blog the URL was https://www.catapultsystems.com/dbroussard/metaweblog.ashx as way of an example
Now it will go out and download your settings
And you are all done!
Happy blogging using Windows Live Writer or Word and CKS EBE.
Many thanks to Clement DeLarge on Read the Effin Blog for this insight.
