With their small IT department struggling to keep up with the day-to-day administration of their on-premises Exchange 2007 environment, a Colorado company looked to the cloud. They needed a cloud solution that could handle their messaging environment, freeing up their IT staff and positioning the company more strategically for the future.
Using the Catapult Systems Office 365 Jumpstart approach, Catapult implemented a hybrid solution which enabled the client to pilot Office 365 Exchange Online for 50 users while maintaining their existing messaging environment. Mailboxes homed on-premises and in the cloud could both view a single Global Address List. This hybrid approach ensured that pilot end users were not isolated and could continue to fully interact with all users and mailboxes in the organization. Catapult also implemented a full Single Sign-On solution, allowing pilot users to utilize their on-premises Active Directory credentials to access Office 365 Exchange Online.
Very pleased with the performance of Office 365, the client is now moving forward with a full deployment of Exchange Online Plan 2 for all 500 users, having engaged Catapult’s assistance in migrating the other 450+ mailboxes to Exchange Online.
