Catapult Systems uses Microsoft SharePoint 2010 as the platform for our intranet, extranet and Internet presences. We chose SharePoint for its many pervasive and powerful capabilities:

SharePoint provides a full set of tools that can be used to create any kind of website, and its single infrastructure simplifies site management.  Novice or expert, anyone can quickly create, customize and publish a site that looks great and meets a specific business need. Even better, SharePoint sites work well with other technologies that people use to do their jobs. Cross-browser support and a great mobile experience easily extend access to content in the office or on the go.

An Integrated Collaboration Platform

Because SharePoint is secure, easy to manage and scalable, it is a perfect fit to support Catapult’s distributed workforce. Using a full set of collaboration tools including wikis, workflows, team sites and tagging, people can easily work together the way they want. My Profile pages provide information about each employee including biographies, job titles, location and contact information making it easy to get to know colleagues no matter where they are located.

Effective Content Management

SharePoint manages documents, records, Web content, and rich media on a single platform. Internally it empowers our Marketing and Human Resources groups to create and publish original content on our external website rather than requiring technical support from IT to convert content to HTML. This significantly shortens the content management cycle as content creation, approval and publication is handled by a workflow which also permits us to stage content by setting a future publication date.

Search

SharePoint provides highly relevant search results, key words and Best Bets enabling our employees to find what they need quickly and easily. Search reports let us see what people are looking for and we can easily configure Best Bets to drive people to the most relevant content.
