Catapult Takes 2nd Place in the 2001 Austin Accessibility Internet Rally competition
AUSTIN, Texas - October, 2001 - Catapult Systems Corp., an Austin-based
e-business consulting company, today announced that it won 2nd place in the Austin Accessibility Internet Rally competition on Saturday, September 15th. The purpose of the AIR-Austin competition is to bring together volunteers from the high tech community to build accessible web sites for more than 20 nonprofit organizations.
The competition contained two categories of Web development, Stock Car and Formula One. The Stock Car class is limited to straight HTML, while under Formula One "anything goes". Catapult formed two teams and participated in both the Stock Car and Formula One categories. Some of its competition included Prodigy, IBM, Dell, Rackspace, and Momentum.
For the Stock Car category, Catapult designed a web site for ARIES Alliance, whose goal is to create a "competency-based education system to optimize workforce preparation and solve the qualified worker shortage problem for technology-based companies". The Catapult Stock Car team included Ruchita, Greg, David, and Khoi.
For the Formula One category, Catapult designed a web site for Volunteer Legal Services of Central Texas whose goal is to "help low-income persons with civil legal problems". The Catapult Formula One team, which won 2nd place in the contest, included Jennifer, Mike, Rich, and Matthew.
“Our AIR-Austin team is just one of the ways Catapult gives back to the Austin community,” says Matthew McDermott of Catapult Systems. “From fundraising for Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Austin to participating in local food and clothing drives, Catapult is invested in the success of the city and its citizens.”
