Catapult Systems Named Best Place to Work for the Second Time

AUSTIN, Texas – June 26, 2007 – Catapult Systems today announced it was awarded the #1 spot on the Austin Business Journal Best Places to Work in Austin among medium-sized businesses. This is the second time the company has taken
the top spot.
More than 150 Austin-area companies competed for the title; employees were asked to participate in an independently administered survey, providing anonymous feedback on topics including job satisfaction, confidence in management and work-life balance. Of a possible 100 points, Catapult scored a 96.65.
Catapult Systems was founded in 1993 by current CEO Sam Goodner, whose goal was to “build the kind of company I would want to work for. We aligned Catapult’s core values not only with what we believe our customers should expect of our company, but with what we expect of one another personally. Accountability, passion, initiative, teamwork, agility and fun: these make for employees who enjoy their jobs and working together – and that makes for happy customers.”
Goodner’s staff concurs. According to Emily Villanueva, sales manager, Catapult guards its employees’ work-life balance carefully while ensuring growth opportunities. “As an organization, Catapult challenges me professionally and allows me to create relationships in my professional world that are valuable to me. But it also allows me to have a personal life.”
The company invests heavily in the hiring process. Prospective employees are examined for both technical proficiency and cultural fit during eight or more interviews with representatives from all areas of the company, any one of whom can veto the candidate. Goodner credits the company’s low turnover rate – less than 15% per year – to this meticulous approach to building the Catapult workforce. “We work hard to hire the right people – those dedicated to the good of our customers and our company. It’s this kind of passion that makes Catapult the best place to work in Austin.”
