Catapult Tops List of Best Places to Work
AUSTIN, Texas – June 17, 2005 – Catapult Systems was recognized as the #1 Best Place to Work in Austin among medium-sized businesses at the Austin Business Journal Best Places to Work 2005 Pep Rally.
Over 160 Austin area companies competed for the honor by asking employees to participate in an employee feedback survey. Employees provided anonymous feedback on their employers directly to the Austin Business Journal on topics such as overall job satisfaction, confidence in management and work-life balance. Catapult received a rating of 97.7 out of 100 from its employees.
An anonymous employee described Catapult in their survey response as, “Catapult is simply the best place I have ever worked. The people are great and management is simply the best. They genuinely care about each and every employee, they are honest, hard-working, fair, accessible, and they all have a great sense of humor.”
Catapult was founded over twelve years ago with the idea of creating a company employees would enjoy working for. It has consistently maintained a turnover rate of less than 14 percent. CEO Sam Goodner credits this success to a solid recruitment approach and personal commitment to each employee.
“We are very careful to only hire employees who fit the Catapult culture,” Goodner said. “Once they are on board, we encourage employees to develop friendships through monthly fun events like movies, picnics, and holiday celebrations.”
“We work hard to create a good work-life balance at Catapult,” said Sue Darrow, Human Resources Director. “On-site massages, a car wash where managers do the washing, and a Mother’s Room are just a few of the ways Catapult connects with employees. We want each employee to know they are personally valued and these benefits help convey that.”
This focus on work-life balance resonates with Consultant Jason Rios, “At my previous job, I was killing myself with the hours, working 70 to 90 hours a week. Now it’s more like 40 to 45. Here you go home at a reasonable time and have a family. This is what I was looking for.”
